Dr. Sebag’s Research to Be Published in Top Ranked Medical Journal

Dr Sebag’s research on floaters and floaters surgery has been accepted for publication in one of the highest ranked journals in Ophthalmology.

Huntington Beach, Calif., October, 17, 2013  — VMR Institute, a leading facility for treatment of disorders of vitreous, macula, and retina in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, announced today that Dr. Jerry Sebag’s research on floaters, and surgery for the treatment of floaters, has been accepted for publication in Retina: the Journal of Retinal and Vitreous Diseases, the eighth highest ranked journal of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Sebag’s research examines the significant impact that floaters can have on an individual’s quality of life, as well as the safety and efficacy of surgery to remove them. His study has proven that surgery to remove floaters (Floater Vitrectomy) can be safe, effective and, in addition, results in improvement of patients’ quality of life.

“We are so thrilled to be accepted for publication in such a prestigious journal as Retina. We are proud of our research on floaters and floaters treatment, but more importantly, we are hopeful that this will lend legitimacy to the true debilitating nature of this ailment, and will thus provide floaters patients a promising and safe solution—a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak,” said Dr. Sebag.

RETINA focuses exclusively on the growing specialty of vitreoretinal disorders. The Journal provides current information on diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Its highly specialized and informative, peer-reviewed articles are easily applicable to clinical practice. In addition to regular reports from clinical and basic science investigators, RETINA publishes special features including periodic review articles on pertinent topics, special articles dealing with surgical and other therapeutic techniques, and abstract cards.

Dr. Sebag and Dr. Chong, along with a team of highly skilled research students, conduct extensive basic science and clinical research. This creates a rare opportunity for patients to avail themselves of latest treatments as part of national, multi-center clinical trials conducted at VMR Institute.
